Download free Moodle courses

Moodle.net a web repository of freely available Moodle courses

Moodle.net is a Moodle service that many Moodle users don't know about. It is a web repository where you can find hundreds of freely downloadable courses that you can then use in your own platform.

Searching for a course

The web contains a search engine where you can look for any course through a series of filters like educational level, language, subject, licence, target audience or keywords. You can also filter for courses you can download or courses you can enrol in.

Downloading a course

If you find a course you are interested in, you can download it for free and use it in your own Moodle installation. The course archive is a backup of the original course that you can upload to your own platform. If the course you download was created in a different version of Moodle, you might find some compatibilty issues.

Before downloading a course, however, you should have a look at the licence under which it is shared in Moodle.net and use it accordingly.

Enrolling in a course

If you don't have a Moodle platform or you prefer to enrol in a course as a student, you can also find a wide variety of courses you can enrol in if you select this option in the search criteria. In this case, you are presented with a short description of each course along with the enrolment fee, if any. Click the enrol button and you will be redirected to the Moodle platform hosting that particular course.

Other content

Moodle.net also offers quizzes, database and glossary entries that you can download and innport to your own courses.

Contribute with your courses

Of course, if you are a course creator, you can also upload and share your courses, providing that your course meets certain criteria. Once your course is approved, it will be listed on this repository.
